I think the color on the matte one is a better match for the watch as well. Plus I generally prefer matte gators to glossy ones.
On another note, stellar Cornes de Vache, this is the best version of them all. And Aaronās straps are a top choice.

Do you think your above grey strap has perhaps a light gloss? It is just perfectšš½
It is a matte grey from VC and they do have a very light gloss to them.
At least compared to Aaronās āsuper matteā leathers, which I love.

I personally don't like glossy straps! So I like yours much better (only my taste of course).

I prefer the matte - but itās pretty close.
The CDV looks good on pretty much anything - the dial is pretty much a blank canvas to work with.
I love the Serapian strap on the stainless CDV. The pin buckles are relatively inexpensive so I bought a number of VC straps in different colors and swap them out regularly.

I actually love both matte and glossy and have mostly matte ones. So this one for me was a fun change up and one of my few gloss straps.
It looks amazing in person and the strap is from Vacheron and is denim color. So for me it looks great on both and this one a fun change up!

The VC Gloss. I like the extra intensity of the blue ā it pops a bit, but not over the top!
