vintage V&C , caliber 453 , jumbo size 38mm. case maker's mark is hammer no.170 the lugs sharpe were not same as ref4361 and ref 4527



could you share information about this one ? its the first time i saw the model .

VC seems to have some of the best lugs around...dials too for that matter...

its not ref 4540.

V&C's 38mm wrist watch cases of the 50s and 60s were often called "XXL", which is funny as today anything XXL would probably be 48+.   I haven't this design in my photo archive so would exercise caution until you can examine the case markings directly.

the case maker's mark looks ok .

either 154 or 54 stamped on the case body to confirm the two parts match. The casemaker was registered in 1947 so that establishes the earliest possible date.

there is not last 3 digits stamped on case body.
stamped 3 digits on case body is a common anti-counterfeiting method during this period?
i saw some models used the method , not only case maker no.170. but i didnot see it on models after 1960s

but no hallmark on mid-case or back side of lug.

or a manufacturing flaw because one lug appears to be in a different position than the others. As for authenticity, only VC can determine for these watches where we don't have a reference number engraved on the watch itself, but I cannot find a similar model in my catalogs.
