Here are a couple of photo from city life in the north. I think not much explanation is required... The ninth photo (9/12) is the canal in Otaru, all the rest are from Sapporo... The photographs in this set were taken with Fujifilm Neopan 400 or Fujicolor Pro400.

reminds me of when I was there some years ago. The crabs were just super.
Thanks for sharing these wonderful and realistic shots with us Casey.

PS. Pls excuse my ignorance but how does one post film photos on the internet?
I did enjoy some crab box lunches a couple of times... lots of sushi and grilled fish... the food was excellent...
I scan my film using a dedicated 35mm film scanner... the Nikon Coolscan V ED which gives me 134MB TIF files (Bit Depth=48) for color and 68MB TIF files (Bit Depth=24) for B&W... 5959 x 3946px at 4,000 dpi. Then just edit, post process, resize to 800 x 533px (or cropped size) at 1,200 dpi, and save as a JPG.
The Nikon Coolscan V ED as well as the model that does 120 format film have been discontinued for some years... Which is unfortunate as I really like mine...
Attached is a typical scan... just resized and converted to JPG. You can see that the scan catches a little of the frame, and there is always some junk that gets on the film during development or scanning process.

Bento (??) is a single-portion takeout or home-packed meal common in Japanese cuisine.
A traditional bento holds rice, fish or meat, with pickled or cooked vegetables, usually in
box-shaped container... such as in the following internet photo... for example

if not move to Japan, at least visit on a regular basis...

Number one was taken at Nakajima Park next to the apartment that I rented and number five is from Hokkaido Shrine which has a wonderful atmosphere... Both are from Sapporo.

See my reply to 'cen' above regarding 1 & 5...
Number four was taken at the Christmas Market on Odori in Sapporo... I think that these two girls were from Taiwan or China... They wanted to take a picture with me... maybe I was looking like Saint Nick with my white beard
After that I asked to take their photo... friendly people in Hokkaido.

Dear Casey. Not only picture perfect photos (every single one), but also straigt ones, even without a
tripod!!! If my memory is good you were not using one.
You really did not leave a stone unturned in the neigbourhood, lots of lovely places for photo shoot.
Thank you for sharing
Regards
Edward
No tripod, but post processing in some of the photographs
. Thank you for the kind words...
I think in the end I will show (including the next batch) a total of around 33 photos out of 800... I did take some duplicates, and/or photographed the same locations at different times... I am very happy with the results.

Number five is from the Hokkaido Shrine, and the surrounding woods is beautiful... late afternoon sun through the trees... the mood there was very special...
Number nine... the canal in Otaru
Number ten... snow covered benches on Odori...
Odori is a tree lined boulevard and home to the Ice Festival... Sapporo uses a compass layout naming system... Odori is the zero street running East-West so for example the Clock Tower is located at 1N 2W...
In that last one, the falling snow below the lanterns made a nice reflection...

Thank you for the comments... there is a 50-50 chance I will be back to Hokkaido in early February to do a little skiing... It's a great location and very photogenic... A friend of mine did the circle trip of Hokkaido by bicycle... in the summer

Number one was the first major snowfall during my visit to Sapporo, it seemed like a lot of snow at the time, but it was just a hint of what was to come.
Number five... yes that was 'Hokkaido Shrine' at Maruyama Koen station of Sapporo's Tozai subway line (one of three subway lines in the city). Lovely place...
Otaru brewery is on the cannel, did I mention they brew a very nice Pilsner

I have printed some of the color photographs in 2L size mat finish and they turned out fairly decent...
I might try larger sizes... 4PW (254x365 at 17.00USD) or maybe HP (356x432 at 25.00USD) or ZP (457x560 at 35.00USD)
What I really want is to try a print on Art Paper or canvas, particularly the first image.
I have also been trying to find a lab to dupe some of my B&W negatives and send the duplicate negatives to Jeff in the US (I guess I should ask him first, but I am sure he would accept)... so far no luck to find a lab that can do that work... I hesitate to send my original negatives internationally, not because of Jeff
...
Alternative is local Pt. printing for one or two B&Ws, which I am also very interested in (for years)... now might be the time...

That small pavilion is one of the parts of a Shinto shrine...
The Ch?zuya (???) is a free-standing structure located a short distance from the main building, used for cleansing with water as part of a ceremonial purification rite known as temizu.
You can see it up close as follows in one of my photos from 1-Jan-2015 taken at Meiji Shrine in Tokyo... (the original photo was from the Hokkaido Shrine in Sapporo).
