Camera/tripod recommendation for macro photography?
Guys,
What camera and tripod would you recommend for macro photography?
It'll mainly be for watch and nature photography.
I have done some basic macro photography before using basic equipments such as macro mode in a Canon point & shoot camera, and macro lens attached to iphone etc., but never had a serious equipment.
Any recommendation is appreciated!

If you can give us some idea of your budget, and your tolerance for switching lenses.
For example, my Sony RX10 mk IV is an excellent long-range camera for nature, and with care can do decent flowers but I have found it a bit large for watches.
This reviewer disagrees with me (maybe I need to read the manual...) and says it's the best in the world of its type SONY RX10 LINK
It isn't too heavy, it can be operated over your head with one hand (my requirement for use at car show press events) and the lens is awesome.
I have a Sony tripod as well, with a remote shutter operation, and there are MS and Apple apps too so you can run it from a phone or pad.
Mine is a $1750 US compromise camera -- now the "I CAN'T / WON'T COMPROMISE!" guys like Jocke can chime in!

Agreed, it's all about the budget...
If I were spending someone else's money, I'd pick up a high mp camera so I can crop in vs using an extension tube. Preferably mirrorless so I don't need to deal with locking the mirror like on an slr - Sony A7riv or a Sony A1. Bonus is eye tracking autofocus on animals for nature shoots. Longish macro lens like the Sony 90mm or the Sigma 105mm macro so there's enough distance from the subject to get some lights in there.
I'm not a tripod connoisseur but for macro, something heavy to reduce vibration. For nature lugging a heavy tripod sucks so maybe a tripod inside and lightweight carbon monopod for nature.
Again, with someone else's money. With my money probably just the iphone and and accessory lens would do 😋

Couple of considerations
Make sure the camera body has good on board image stabilization.
Also pick a macro lens that has image stabilization as well.
Or you could pick a really large sensor and then crop down to a macro.

Regarding budget, I'm not sure about the range, but roughly speaking, $2k-$4k range should be good. I'm fine with lens changing ... never done it before, but have to start somewhere, and hopefully the learning curve is not too steep! 🙂

Do you think these lenses will be sufficient for extreme close-up photos of watch movements, where the real feature size is about the width of a human hair?

My Sony lens is phenomenal
But I would not use it for inside-the-watch photos. It won’t do it.
