Since so many of you looked at the previous post with some pictures of sunset after sandstorm, I’ve taken the liberty to dig in my library.
Found few more pictures from sand storm few years back.
These pictures were taken around noon so in the middle of the day.
The last photo seems insignificant but actually gives a better indication than the other photos. That’s because the last photo was taken standing inside my office looking outside at the 36th floor. And what do you see? Nothing. Which is exactly the point
You work in NYC don’t you?
This sand is not half as scary as the NYC subway trust me
When the sky turns yellow like that and as sand dust concentration increases it turns orange, then that’s a pretty good moment to get inside
But even inside I get a dry throat which can last for few days.

Do you experienced a sandblasted watch when walking through the storm, or you protect a watch against sandstorms by wear your watch in a jacket?

Fascinating to see this weather event which is completely outside my experience.
My father who served in North Africa for 3 years during WW2 used to say that in the desert, sandstorms were the only thing that stopped the fighting completely until they had passed. Regards Kev.

about the temp and season... we get "yellow" sand from China, but no where near as over-powering as your photos...
Just out of curiosity, do the airplanes fly during these storms?

Incredible. So I suppose you cant avoid inhaling it.
I suppse people stay indoors when it happens and you have filtered aircondition. Still incredible you get a dry throat!!!
