Something nice in the world of cuff links...

 By: dr.kol : May 18th, 2013-08:01

You can still find the old style Calatrava cuff links in different golds. Those do not look bad when you get your initials engraved.

Best, Kari

Wow...

This is can imagine smile

First of all: Congrats!

You mentioned you sold your AP RO in RG because of quality and bought instead a classical Calatrava? What do you think about the Nautilus collection?

Best,
Oliver

Nice Pen

Congrats on the watch.  Wear it in good health.

I like your Montblanc Agatha Christie 4810 fountain pen.  I have the same one and really enjoy it.

It was nice that the salon provided you with a few nice extras.

Mark

Hello Mark...

Thanks for the kind comments.  My 'other' passion is fountain pens, particularly a focus on LE/WE/SE Montblanc pieces

I've got both the Sterling Silver Agatha and the Vermeil 4810 Agatha, along with a couple favourites such as the Dumas, Octavian and 75th Anniversary 149.

I've reviewed most of my recent pieces including a Meissen porcelain MB on YouTube http://youtu.be/LK6VZfsXzM4 - you'll find my 5146 has also been reviewed along with my APs and a few other pieces as well.

Great watch + great pen

5127 is very Patek...a very nice dress watch yet not boring at all.

The Agatha Christie 4810 pen is another highlight. One of few Montblanc (Heimingway, Medici, Agatha and Octavian) that I like very much.

Hi Grisar

Please see my comment just made to Mark's post with some snaps of my other MBs.  I too plan to add a Hemingway, and a couple other FPs...

It seems that we have very similar hobbies :)

Great to have a pen enthusiast  here on the forum. I used to have quite a few Montblancs, now I have reduced my collection to very few pieces that I really like such as Hemingway, Agatha (silver and vermeil), Medici, Octavian, Proust and one Pelikan, the 1931Gold.

Enjoy your great pen collection and of course also the Patek!

Congrats Mike!

Never been a fan of the crown guards, but after seeing these beautiful photos and how incredible this piece looks on your wrist I think I'm coming around....

Congratulations on both your watches - a stunning pair that fits any occasion.

On my bucket list

Congratulations on the 5127. The 5127J was my first Patek and I had a good boutique experience at Beyer's in Zurich. I've bought several more Patek's but nothing has come close to the boutique experience.

Going to the Patek boutique in Geneva (and buying a watch there) has been one of my top "to do" items for a while and I thought I would do that with the 5140 but fell in love with the 3940 so it wasn't to be. But I will go there one day. What was the selection of watches like?  Was almost every current production watch available?

Love the cuff links.

As for the Salon...

 By: bsodmike : May 20th, 2013-03:45
Yes, they have pretty much the entire 'current' collection, even pieces that have yet to be phased out, i.e. there was a 5170J on display next to a 5270G.

I've had pretty decent boutique experiences in London, Kuwait and Singapore in particular but nothing comes close to my recent Salon visit.

You'll also find certain pieces that aren't in the catalogue on display, such as special cloisonné pieces.  The cufflinks do complement the 5127 really well; I am hoping to pick up the other design of cufflinks (circular guilloche with the Catarava seal) in 'Jaune' to match my 5146.

Pure Patek class and elegance! Congrats and cheers, [nt]

for a one in a life time ocassion.(You are thirty years old only once).

It looks amazing on your wrist and fits perfecly with the photographed surrandings.

It has been a while. How does it wear? Do you wear it often? Could you snap some recent pictures please.

Would love to see a few close ups on your wrist.

Regards.

Edward.

Hi Edward,

Thanks for the kind comments.  My regular rotation includes my AP Royal Oak and Patek 5146 annual calendar.

The 5127 doesn't get worn as often as I was hoping as my work took a change; working remotely from home rather than commuting to work everyday.  In my previous executive post I'd wear long sleeves with French cuffs, and an elegant piece such as this flew under the radar.

I do wear it for special occasions, or whenever there's something to celebrate smile

Best M.

Thank you for the pics.
