Patek Philippe

for me!

Till I bought my first Patek Perpetual in the end of last year. A wonderful watch! However, I wear my Aquanaut 5167A more than the other about 10 Patek together and started to think why...

A steel watch is unbeatable on everyday's wear. A water proof watch is great. Even I have for my Aquanaut both the bracelet and rubber strap, the rubber or Tropical strap is the most comfortable one.

Furthermore, if I want to wear a complete calendar, no annual calendar is beating a Patek Philippe Perpetual 3940 / 5140 in elegance. So my conclusion was that a steel annual calendar with rubber strap would be great. Even better if there would also be a leather strap.

So a couple of hours ago I received my brand new Daily Beater:

It helped me a lot to read comments about all Patek Annual Calendars from Watchprosite. So Imran, I'm partly blaming you for this watch!

Time will show how my life with this new Nautilus will be. At least it will make a nice pair with my 3712.

No, I believe that this is a watch I can wear on daily basis. My GO Senator Perpetual is doing the same trick but Patek is slimmer and a more "unique" design. I plan to wear this also on holidays and see how it works as a diving watch.

Anyhow, I will not use this watch for wreck diving and if the watch starts to i.e. leak, Patek's service will surely fix it! In the end watches are made to be used.

However, the most important issues were steel and 12 ATM. 

My mistake in the past has been that in a year I have much more leisure time than business hours. Still the majority of my watches are "dress watches". A nice platinum Patek is not perhaps the best choice when i.e. cutting the grass in the garden, hunting of fishing in Lapland...

In my books 5726 is not above Nautilus but aside. These are so different watches. The Aquanaut is a simple watch, very modest and slim. It's fantastic on the wrist and I must say I love it deeper the more I wear it. Nautilus is in the end a complicated watch but quite understated such. I would guess that a young professional would enjoy it as a dress watch but for a middle-aged professional like myself the watch is either screaming with suit "I feel young" or with jeans "I like quality and style".

Funny, I have really convinced myself that such a watch is needed...

I like these Patek's "sporting watches" a lot. I wonder if 5164A would make a fine pair to Nautilus AC. Aquanaut for travels and Nautilus for leisure time. Hmmm... but I have my 5134P Travel Time.

I just ordered the tropical strap with my measurements and when I'll get that, the watch will be a beater indeed.

When I'll get straps made to my measurements, the watch will be great.

By the way: I often wonder that most companies have straps of only three different lengths. That's the case also with Patek. However, when one is having a folding clasp in the watch, the correct length of the strap is of great importance. If the folding clasp is not just on the right place of the wrist, it will not be comfortable.

At least from Patek you can order straps of any length. Just spend some time with a good sales person or a watch maker and measure the right length you need for each watch. I have done that and I have a folding clasp in all of my Pateks without a metal bracelet. All watches feel very good on the wrist.

When I bought the new Nautilus, the standard longest strap was too long and the standard strap a bit too short. The custom length for that watch will be plus 10 mm to the other side and plus 8 mm to the other. When I'll get the new straps, I'll put the tropical to the watch and will post a couple of pictures.

VC Malte Dual Time Regulator.

I liked this watch a lot when I bought it in 2005. Officer's back, Chronometer, dual time...

But when wearing it I learned one important thing: it is very difficult to read. Yes, you can understand the current time but it is difficult at one quick sight to understand how much i.e. time is left before 3 pm meeting.

I am trying not to look at this new PP Regulator. The movement it too fantastic for the watch and I might get excited.
