Quite a beautiful perpetual ....
with a very enduring look. I simply love its dial and its sweeping hand.
It's almost like a 5016 without the sound.
This is one of those watch that I actually love it in a traditional YG color, it gives out a very nice vintage vibe 
I think one day it will be equally desirable as 3448 or 3450, considering it was the first retrograde Patek watch since the 30s.

yah, it is so rare now.
5170J is very close to ideal for me except for the big 'patek' and its very hard edge case.
The dial also seems big for what it is, it wears bigger than the size indicated.
My problem with it is it looks like a 'replica' of old model, unlike the Grand Seiko Anniversary, which looks and feel extremely close.
Just look at the picture of ref 530 and compare to 5170, one can easily sense the charm of the earlier.

Very nice, and i think they did a much better job than the 5496. Especially in the moonphase, the area around "6".

Leap year
The overlap of the leap year indicator and the date is what kills the 5059 and 5159 for me.
The 5496 dial is so squished and unbalanced to the extreme.
The 5050 is perfect.
For me 5050 is the most beautiful perpetual of all
Proportions are simply perfect, design is elegant and refined, dial is clearly legible and not "crowded" at all.
A discrete beauty for people of extremely good taste.
I wish I can see it in flesh but it is so rare.

Patek 2497
Interesting but....
I am never a fan of having 2 different font of numerals in a dial.
Also, the printed numerals make the dial less exquisite and the white metal , though more rare, exudes less charm on such watch.
White metal (or even rose gold) generally gives a more modern vibe and for such piece I prefer something with a yesteryears look
In short, I kinda like Patek in YG while prefer RG or Platinum for Lange. Having said that, Steel and platinum do sometime work very well with both modern and vintage Patek.
For example, if I have the money to spend at will , I will not buy the platinum 2499 and will rather choose a good YG 2499 .

I slowly grasp that these are the kind of pieces where a concern about robustness may be at the right place.
There is unfortunartely too little to find about the exact mechanism and Patek's 2011 or 2010 catalogue explains it just a bit.
Wearing these pieces means to be very, very careful about shocks as the retrograde date change is happening WHILE the flyback
phase by the interaction of different wheels during that time.
"Knowing this" would I want to buy one of these?

However: a two hand pp a la 3940/5140 would be more my choise as I like the complete, perpetual calmness of two hand watches.
