Patek Philippe

I have loved the design of this piece for along time. I have spoken with 4 UK AD's two of whom have the model in stock, one of the dealers advised me that the 5127 in R/G was currently a particular difficult model to get. What do you think? The AD told me that the 5127 was perhaps the best Patek to wear as a daily wearer, due to the advantages of having the protective shoulders, screw in crown & case back. Please give me your thoughts and include as many different photos that you can. Regards Tony

The date on the 5127 is the noly thing whch disturbs me, hence my preference. But if the date is not an issue for you, it is a highly recommendable choice!

Regards PP 5127, it replaced the 5107 from 2000 (?!). It was introduced in 2005 and if you use Google you can find an introduction on the first page:

If you use our own search function you will find more about both watches, for sure. Maybe some of them are not brand new

@Paul: If you don´t feel happy here and like to offend other PuristS, I would recommend to go somewhere else - urgently.
If you prefer to stay, I would recommend to behave.

All Pateks are good for normal daily wear within their given performance parameters imho. They are built solid and reliable. Always prefer RG here and as for being hard to get, it seems Patek does a production run of certain models and so there may be moments when certain models are be easier to procure than others. Simply put in an order now to reserve yours during the next production period.

Nicolas, I did think that was the probably reason, so forgive my duplicate post, so soon after the previous one.

A big part of the interest of this watch ( as any other watch, by the way ) is its proportions.

Will it sing to your ears, or nor, only the in the real experience will tell you.

In my view, the 5127 is the most beautiful Calatrava in the current lineup. Perfect proportions, very readable, understated yet elegant, and can go with everything.  It's simplicity at it's best, and all you ever need for an all-around watch.  If I was to have only one single watch, this would be the catch-all that I could use for everything.

  

That is what I wish to read Currently experiencing what can go wrong with onboard computers in my car. I would take simple over complicated most times.........Unless of course it was a 5207P

Thanks for the comments on 5205. I am surprised that legibility is not so good. It looks very crisp and sharp on the photos. Let me ask you, if you get 5127 are you still going to keep your 5205? If the answer is yes, than I would definitely go for colored gold (I really prefer rose on that model), since you already have white gold watch. However, if you will only keep one watch, than I would keep your 5205 of course. It will keep it's value better and is more versatile. Don't get me wrong, I really love having 5127R but it is more dressy than my other watches because it is thin and and smaller size. It is really comfortable and very legible! 

Now when you have the 5205 with black, would you recommend getting 5205 with grey dial instead?

For me the 5127 in RG is a timeless classic that exudes class no matter how you look at it! Cheers,

but it wouldn´t be my personal choice. I miss the "spice", the "sex appeal" ... and even when I can appreciate it for what it is, it is not me.

"Difficult to get" Not sure about this, but maybe today ...

For sharing your thoughts and photos carnegie, difficult for me to answer, as I have not had the opportunity to "Road Test" the pair side by side, though, I suspect that the lighter dial, should be easier to read. In natural light, unless in really bright sunlight overhead, there is no issues with reading the time. But what I have found is when you are inside and using what available light there is. There is a lot of reflection coming back from the sapphire crystal. Perhaps if it had a coat of anti reflective covering on it may help. Question is, would I still but the watch if I knew than what I know now!!!!!!!!!! Answer, possibly not, even though I love the watch, the layout of the apertures and usually favour dark dials. In this case a lighter coloured dial maybe an advantage. Perhaps, it is my eyesight which is getting worse and not the colour of the dial Hence, my recent thoughts regarding the 5127.
