Yesterday I took these pictures at a secondhand dealer I know pretty well.
I really wonder how they will try to make the 5170 look as perfect as this
"One day...Will you get one?"
- You never know ;-)
I'm working on a 5131G but that will be VERY difficult. My AD send them that application form about 10 months ago. They would answer after basel 2010. And they did
But I was hoping for a more positive answer than the answer I got. It wasn't 'NO, impossible'. but it said it wasn't possible for this year. They would reconsider it in srping 2011 ... and if it would be 'Yes, will make one for you' it still will take several years
I can accept the fact that it is a rare watch because not many people can make these dials and therefor it takes more time to get one but It is so damn frustrating to see that I can name at least 5 secondhand dealers who have one for sale at a VERY ridiculous price. I guess that apllication form is't the best way to exclude those irritating flippers. I have no problem with a person who sells his watch after a few years but I don't feel much sympathy for those who sell it for a huge profit the day after they received it

39.5 isn't indeed very big but I could live with it
I would not wear e 36 mm watch but everything between 40 and 44 is imo perfect. So an exception to 39.5 won't be the problem
I find the "flipping" infuriating. I actually know someone who just paid £100k for the 5131. £100k!!! The seller received the watch a week ago. Obviously it is still sealed. I do think one thing that Patek could do to put some dent into this practise is to stop sending watches to ADs in sealed form. It won't stop it, but it at least takes some froth away.
On the 5070P.... when a watch is as beautiful as this, even bad camera work looks good. But when you get good camera work, it looks sublime.
Bruno,
It took years to stop wishing for this one, and now you've provoked a recurrent attack with these magnificent photos!
Park
WOW! Look like studio ones!!!
And what a superb Patek!
Thanks
Marcelo
I'm sure it's possible with professional stuff but it's also possible with cheap crap LOL
I took these 5 minutes ago and it took me only a few seconds so the Rolex sub picture could be better if I took a bit more time
But that's all you need ... a camera (Nikon D60 in my case. So it's not a little digital camera but for a digital reflex camera it's entry level and pretty cheap. I did not use a special lens , I use the lens that was delivered with the Nikon D60. Other things you need are a piece of leather which will fit in the box. I use black leather, in fact it's just shiny similli leather. And a box which keeps all the irritating reflections away. I use an empty ice cream box
A watch display holder is also welcome.
It's all you need
Don't worry if the AD or secondhand dealer will laugh at your ice cream box ;-) The result is pretty good
Than cut the picture and keep the part which looks fine for you
Thanks for the procedure! I’ve seen a lightbox for the same purpose made of a garbage box – too complicated for me
Your ice cream box looks perfect
I do not have a DSLR but a nice point & shoot (Sony HX1) – hope it can do the job...
I just need you to teach me how to not frighten the AD with such a device. He/she may well assume it’s a “watch trap”
LOL!!!
Marcelo
Bruno, can I send you my 5131J for photos ... ? LOL.
The ones below were made with a Nikon D70. I just can't get it!

I'm serious I would kill for that watch
Ofcourse you can send it to me
You wanne get it back ?
I hope to get one too , I 'm trying to get the 5131G but I'm affraid it will be very difficult. I know my dealer is doing what he can so I can only hope

And I empathise with your dilemma.
If you have to wait several years to achieve getting your 5131, I wonder how much in that time the MRSP will have risen?
