Patek Philippe

Just got it today. The watch that makes you ( almost ) forget about all the other watches. I keep on looking at it every 2 minutes, and it never looks the same.

1st impression was how the dial plays with the light in a unique way. The watch looks and feels very different in reality. The mouse grey dial catches the light like no other dial.
2nd impression, is the finishing. Simply the best i've seen. The watch feels like a true piece of art.
3rd impression, the proportions, the hands, the pushers and the crown thickness, just beautiful. And the sub-dials, that are basically looking back at you

Only 1 drawback! This watch makes all my other watches look almost ridiculous next to it

When I looked at your 1st photo, I thought that it was W/G.

It was only after looking at the rest that I realised my mistake.

I have the same feelings about that watch.

I've owned several other nice watches and loved all of them but nothing can't beat a 5070 . I have mine more or less 3 years and I still love it as much as the first day I got it ( strange because all my other watches loose their 'WOW-factor' after some time)

 

actually, i was saying to myself that when i bought all my other watches, the wow factor was strong but different. Here, i feel that this one is here to stay, simple because its going to be very hard to beat!

In the top 5, IMO.

its a classic. let the addiction begin

... a good friend of mine that collects watches too tells me this everytime i buy a top watch. He told me the same when i got a RM011, but it broke down after 1 month, and addiction didnt pick up. I got the lange timezone, i couldn't find another 42mm watch ( beside the DS )... Only when i got the master tourbillon from JLC, i wanted the minute repeater, the concept, the gyro, etc.. etc...
About pateks, i can see only another 5070 in another metal or the 5970

You mentioned that you had an RM011 - how did this experience compare to the receipt of the RM011?

... i simply couldn't resist the RM011. I wasn't planning to buy it, temptation was jst too strong when i saw it and tried it on. While i've been hunting the patek for more then a year. So you know, the longer the wait the stronger the pleasure

Plus when you toy around with the RM, if feels less robust, the hands weren't reacting precisely to the crown, the feeling of the chrono pushers, lots of small details put the RM in a completly other league... Its a fun watch, great design, but its not a "great" watch. Even if it looked gorgeous and i wanted it so much that i got it. Unfortunatly my instinct was right, 1st problems started showing very quickly, couldn't set the time precisely, then winder problems, until it stopped... Fell out of love as quickly as i fell in love. I sent it for repair, and sold it while its still being repaired! Basically, it was good as long as it lasted but its like a one night stand...

Bottom line, the 5070R 1st impression was : that's the watch that makes u say to yourself "she's the one "... That sums is it up quick clearly

P.s : closest one i have to it is the Lange timezone in Rg... Stunning watch too.

Btw, you will never believe whats his daily wearer... the Aquanaut! At least that's what he told him
