He was calling about something else when he said that he had received a letter today from PP saying that along with  others the 5970p is now "retired"
So the 5970p was announced this year in Basel and here we are in November and it's all over....This must go down as one of the shortest runs of standard production complications????  Any thoughts?.  RIP 5970p we love you (well some of us do anyway)

WHich is greater than  ( > ) in production number , and which model we think is smaller than ( < )

Patek 5970 production : WG > RG > YG > PT  or WG > RG > PT > YG

some say, YG version may have a smaller number in production than PT .... your view ??

He says that like the 5070p the 5970p is the least run time of all the models he knows how many of each model he received and for how long. He claims that out of all of them the 5970p is by far the quickest to stop followed by the 5070p. But I guess the people who know for sure are in Geneva and their lips are sealed....

5970 Rose and White are equal in number

5970J is rarer than both of the above

5970P is equal in number to the above

 

Fact :

There are still a few 5970P's being delivered to customers even though it has been officially discontinued. The deliveries will extend till April 15, 2010

Apparently, no replacement for the 5970 in 2011

and all spoken for. Offical retirement May 1.

There may not be as mujch difference in the total production number of each metal. The number of WG and RG is likely close, since they each seemed about as common during the 2 years they were offered. In any case, I have no reason to believe either is more common than the other. I wouldn't be surprised if YG and PT are less common than WG and RG, but I don't expect there to be a huge difference. Although YG and PT were each offered for less time that WG and RG, you have to keep in mind that WG and RG were offered at the same time, and so they were sharing the production capacity, while each of YG and PT were made alone. My rough guess, based upon what I've head about production capacity, is that the total number produced is about 1000. On average, that would be 250 for each metal. Probably the most rare is in quantity 200 total and the most common quantity 300 total.

Love the silver dial on the 5970G. I think the dial fantastic.

I hope they make another 5970 somewhere down the road... It is a very nice watch indeed!

What else has been discontinued?? I guess the market must be right with the expectation of a gents All New Chrono similar to what has been recently revealed in Paris!!

Thought the would cancel it in April in Basel, that's very early but expected anyway. IMO the next one will be 5980 sooner or later.
Both are important watches in the history of Patek!

Next will be the 5970 Dark Blue Face??

I tried to order it when announced in Basel ............after efforts arrived  ......but it was not easy .
