Since you didn't precise if you spoke about the 5070P...LOL
Seriously, I prefer the esthetic of the 5070...It would have been maybe different if the 5960 didn't have this annual calendar.
I'd prefer a 5060 without this calendar which kills the balance of this beautiful dial.
My Strong 2 Euro Cents! LOL

I'msuffering, now...While xondering if I'll get one or not! LOL
Best.

Thanks for the poll
Ofcourse my choice is the 5070
But if those watches weren't so expensive I would buy both. I really do like the 5960 too (although I would prefer 2 subdials instead of the bulls-eye, but I could get used to it
) but when comparing both I must say the 5070 wins every battle for me. The case, the size, the dial, DEFINITELY the movement, the manual winding, the more classic look, ... If you want a beater a 5960 would probably be the best choice but which nutcase would use such a watch as a beater
But still I would love to own a 5960 one day, If only I had the money
5070 is an icon for Patek, based on the extremely rare model of ref 2571. Lemania based manual wound caliber. Near quartz accuracy (+1 s in 5 days for mine). Nothing compares to it. No spin-off references. (i.e., look alike references of 5070). So 5070 IS a 5070.
5960 is a creation. A creation with mesmerising dial-in-dial-in-dial. (I mean literally--I still get confused on how to read that big round thing). Automatic claiber with more parts than a 5004. Spinning off references in the future. (at least 5980).
So, 5070 is a Patek chronograph. Period.
Hope I haven't offended any 5960 fans here.

, ....considering that we already had 3 Baselworld shows since Jan 26th 2006 introduction of 5960P, and some 'other factors' which I don't want o get into..I personally would not be surprised at all if 5960 will be made only in "P'...
; Some of you find it weird or wrong or not beautiful:by the way ........when will be started the delivery of 5070P ? and for how many years ?
I also heard about 5960P end of production....is it real ? or not ? who never knows ....
regards
No, she isn't more fascinating Besides you French guys have a girl much better looking LOL

And to keep it watch related .. found this wonderfull pics on a Spanish site 'cronomundi'
And concerning the production ;
This is a mail I sent to PP with a question about availability
...
In one of the first magazines from PP I found an article which said that every gold 5070 ( yellow, white, red) would have a 4 year production run, and more or less 250 pce per year
afaik the yellow was available between 1998 and 2002, the white between 2002 and 2006 and the red between 2004 and 2007-2008.
I would like to know if this is also the case for the platinum 5070.
Will it also be a 4 year production run or will it only be available 1 year for celebrating the 10th anniversary ?
I searched for more info on the PP site and all possible watch related websites like the purists, Horomundi, Timezone etc.
Although this info would be very important to me I understand if you would not be able to give this info.
I'm not interested in the number of pieces that will be made, only in the time that it will be available.
Most important, if for some reason I would not have the possibility or opportunity to buy this piece in let's say 2008 or early 2009, will I still get a chance to order and buy one in 2010 or 2011 ?
Thanks in advance and hoping for an answer.
Best regards,
...

Actually, I don't really think I would buy either one.
As to the 5070, the dial is a really beautiful classic design... BUT to me personally a 30 minute chronograph is basically useless. That won't even get me through a typical business meeting and many of my business phone calls go over that. In short, many, if not most of the things I want to time using a chronograph exceed 30 minutes. And what I do need on a watch is the date, seeing I use that function more often than anything other than the time of day.
As to the 5960.... shoot me now but I think the dial is a mess. Red hands, blue hands, silver hands....an enormous white subdial that makes me cringe... I just do not find the juxtiposition of the date windows up against the big subdial and the case shape to be harmonious at all. I am impressed by the technical capabilities of the movement, though.
In short, to me, the answer is neither.

As a die hard Patek fan, my heart really broke when I saw 5960P. I just don't understand the dial still...
Larry
My vote was the 5960 so looks like I'm in the minority
I would get a 5960 and pass on the 5070 to get a 5970 if money weren't an issue.
Cheers,
Anthony
My feeling regarding both are that I want both, in platinum. Each is different and unique. I only hope that I get to make a choice in the near future. I am waiting for both as well as the 5131.
