Good day everyone! Happy Holidays! Have
any of you ever seen this watch? If so, what do you think of it? My son and I were on a Patek trip and he fell in love with it. He turns 40 next week and I thought I would surprise him. He keeps telling me he doesn’t want me to buy him a watch, but then he keeps sending me photos of them and this one in particular. Any comments would be welcome. Many thanks in advance!
Hi Eddy, this is the gorgeous 5980/1AR ("A" for steel and "R" for rose gold). Your son has great taste --- this is in my opinion a *spectacular* sports watch, and actually one of the very few 'two-tones' I like across all brands! ;-)

Best two tone across all brands - your son has excellent taste - stunning vibrant blue dial as well - love it
I rarely like two tone but this one is nice.
My wife still says nope but I think it looks great. Blue is kind of electric in person.

The nautilus in two tone is really, really nice. Combine that with a gorgeous blue dial and a chronograph and what’s not to love? It sounds like he’d really like it but maybe just doesn’t want to say so directly.
I am not a fan of this model
neither two tone nor dial layout. I would rather go for a pure steel or gold version tbh for a first important watch. Different when you have a large collection, than this can be an addition that makes senes in terms of completing some range.
