I am never sure about gray vs blue. Sunlight changes the color.

I finally know how to tell the difference between the Blue and black dial 5980.
The sun can play tricks.
The blue dial 5980 has a white date disc with black numbers.
The black dial 5980 has black date wheel with white text.
Easy.
I can easily identify them. The grey blue is more subtle, the black more powerful, but of course, you are spot on. ;)

The black date wheel is definitely the easy tell between the two and one of the reasons why I prefer the black dial over the blue. Same reason why I prefer the white piano dial 5711/1A over the blue. I just prefer matching date wheels 😉

I had both black and blue mon ami. You know which one I kept as the other one went to my brother-in-law 😜. Forgot to say that the black dial is much more rare than the blue FYI 😉
