I know many people consider this heresy, but I have a lovely 5726 that was my first Patek. I wore this as my daily and it has got a lot of scratches on the bezel. Since then I have added a 5711 and 5164 and now want my 5726 to be my dress watch hence I would like it polished. But everyone seems aghast at the idea of polishing a relatively new nautilus. Any thoughts on whether this is a good idea or a terrible one. I live in NY so I could take to Henri Stern, but I’m not keen on it taking 6 months. All thoughts much appreciated! This forum has such extraordinary knowledge i would love to know your ideas?

You have an amazing collection. Impressive to buy the 5726 as a first
PP. I think that there is no problem with polishing your 5726. When you wear it just as a dresswatch then, there maybe arent many more scratches to come so it would be ok to polish your watch a bit too early. However, since you can only polish this watch 2 or 3 times, your watch is a bit to young for the first polish. So this takes us to the question what is going to happen to the watch in the future. If you really want your son to wear it one day, you could wait 5 more years and then do the first polish. If you dont have any kids or if they are wealthy enough anyways, i think you should just do what you want and that means obviously that you should polish it.
A watch that shows character is just a more interesting watch in my opinion...so unless there are major dings, which doesn't seem to be the case with your 5726, I would frankly avoid.
If you really decide to go ahead and have it polished, at least I'd advise you to ask for a very light job from a trusted watchmaker, or better from Patek itself, despite the longer wait...If they take too much material away from the bezel (which will certainly happen if you polish it multiple times), then the damage would be irreversible ;-)

We had a refinishing guy where I live who was very skilled. Best I've ever seen. Better than some very good watchmakers I know. Unfortuanately he moved and now works for Crown and
Caiber. I have an Aquanaut that has had one refinish by PP. I asked him if he would touch it up or refinish it if it ever needed it and he said No. I feel he had the skills but he just thought a Patek should go to Patek.
I think the biggest challenge with the Aquanaut or Nautilus is that bezel. As already mentioned there's not that much material that can be removed from it. Looks pretty good in the pics. Maybe you should hold off
until it has accumulated more marks?
Ok to polish it...
as long as you do it with HSWA. To me, the golden rule is: only Patek touches my Pateks. They should be able to return the watch to original conditions without looking like it was polished.
But, You might miss all the scratches, dings, and swirlies
I am on team no-polish.
The watch just isn't the same in my opinion after it has been polished.
I had a Naut that had a significant ding on the bezel....
I sent it to PP and it came back as new. It was worth the wait. If yours was mine I would have no one other than PP touch it.
