The watch is small, its dial is cleaned, the case is polished a bit, and I have yet to source a 14mm PPC buckle. I like the watch much.

This confirms my personal view that the things that will make you most "happy" are timeless. I am glad to at least own the modern adaptation, the 5296R, but my aspiration is to have the 96!
The reference 96 is an awe-inspiring watch and represents Patek Philippe's resurrection in 1932 after the Great Depression. A design classic to this very day! [nt]

Then 31mm feels quite alright. Helps that the case is made of gold too.

The auction house from which I purchased the watch, Dr. Crott of Mannheim Germany, says it's made in 1952.
Aesthetically, a lot of the older (30s on) reference 96s have a closed sub seconds dial, whereas the latest reference 96s have printed minute markers instead of these round metal droplets. This watch looks 50s enough for me

I have a 3796G and 3923J. Both the same size. They are a joy to wear and very legible and functional.
Simple is better. Bauhaus concept. Beautiful timepiece. 👍
