Patek Philippe

all variants are great: the blue for dressing down and business, the J and R for timeless daydreaming

Thank you for the enjoyable read!

I was a bit disappointed by the blue one, from looking at it in the window of the AD, but on your wrist it is quite good looking.

39 mm is still "o.k." as it gives the pp calendar the size many collectors were expecting, from such a "significant" watch.

PS
The grey bad boy in the corner is really something smile!

Indeed the offer serves a wide use

Interesting to see how with a same watch you can bring such a different piece in the end, especially with this G blue dial one.

I'm clearly more a rose gold guy for this kind of watch but, if I had to choose, i don't know if I would get this one or the G finally.

Indeed, for the little gery one on the right, I didn't know if people were going to ask about it smile I'm glad you did Moritz and yes this 2016 5140P with grey dial is a very interesting version. Maybe the best of the 5140.

I have some pictures and I'll prepare a small post about it.

The 5327G and the 5140P have quite a similar look in terms of casual outfit.

Thank you Moritz for your nice compliments!

Best, Mark

Happened to try on a yellow 5327 yesterday and ...

I must say it is a truly beautiful watch. While I prefer the rose version, the enamel like Breguet dial in both versions is enticing - for me much more appealing than the blue dial. The case is also fantastic. When Patek brought out  the 5140 I thought it was a huge mistake. The iconic 3940 had been around for approximately 25 years and to bring out the same basic watch a mere 1.2 mm larger was beating a horse to death. I thought at the time that if Patek wanted to  house the amazing 240Q movement in a new model they should have  used a totally different case and dial. And now we have it, the 5327, a bit late but as the saying goes better late than never.

So 5327 - a great reference and many thanks Mark for an equally great write up!

Thank you for your experience feedback

I love the lacquered dials and the R and J dials have a great look. It is interesting to read about your preference for the R version. I think that people should indeed compare both R and J if willing to go for it.

As you say, the 5327 brings a quite significant evolution compared to previous models and the case counts for a significant part in this. It will be a great success IMHO, though 3940 fans will certainly need more time as it is not the ultra thin direction anymore (though still quite thin).

Thank you for your very kind compliments Patekova, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Splendid review as usual Mark!

Btw, any reason why they chose a pin buckle for the blue dial?=)

Thank you J!

Well, that's something Patrick emphasized too. As it is mentioned on Patek's website, it should be delivered with a deployant buckle. I wonder if they just added pin buckles for the Basel prototypes only.

I'll have to check.

PP confirmed that the 5327 is sold with a deployant buckle. Best, Mark [nt]

Thanks Mark. Enjoyed the reading. The new perpetual is classy but not classic - too big in my opinion.. Think I am repeating myself nowsmile Sorry. But the breguet numerals fits well here to fill some space on a big dial. The 5327 actually made me pull the trigger to get a 5140 before they disappeared from Patek retailers.
