The engine in the back didn’t help either.
I had bought it for DFL 750 (without inflation that’s €200) and it lasted almost 5 months before I crashed it. Which is surprisingly long haha

Some Renault Gordini.
In parallel with Alpine, there were other sports cars which are worth being mentioned, the Gordini.

The most famous and legendary is the R8 Gordini, with its small 1, 3 liter 4 Cylinders, developing 110 HP, with an excellent weight / power ratio.

The big difference between the R 8 Gordini and the modern Gordini is that the moderns don't have an improved engine, with more power than the series. They just receive a cosmetic treatment ( body and interior ).
The Clio Gordini ( 203 HP ), like the one belonging to our dear Bimbeano ( Clio RS ) :

what a nice little “monster” that was. Saw many R8 in my earliest youth, but only once a R8 Gordini in real life. Much later, if memory serves in the late 1990-ies I saw one in a barn like garage, close to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.

True, sightings of the new one are still rare, in the Netherlands that is.
I see almost every day a Taycan, but seeing a modern Alpine is almost like seeing a blue Mauritius 🙂

My dad had one, the Romanian version Dacia 1100, noisy rear engine that he always hand washed on Saturdays;-)))
He had it until if memory serves me well 1977, then sold it because the car just rusted away.
That hood is so unique I can never forget...

You mean the Alpine? Most probably in May, as I am trying to work on some fine tuning of the chassis... But with the lockdown, it is not easy to program all the works.

A good friend of me owned the Clio Gordini seen on the right, but actually it was a mistake by Renault to try and revive the Gordini brand, especially since the only changes were optical. Also, the Clio 3 RS , also this Gordini, was produced in Dieppe at Alpine.
He sold the car this year ... 2 weeks later he already regretted this decision.

Because of the A110 it wasn’t possoble anymore to produce the Renaultsports in Dieppe. The Clio 4 RS was the last Renaultsport made there. The Megane 4 RS is built in the regular Megane factory.
