Because I remember being a passenger in one when a child
the CE (albeit the SL is a far cooler, if less practical ride) - it was in the days before compulsory seatbelt law and we would stand on the passenger seat with our heads out of the sunroof - and it was much fun but in retrospect makes me shudder if there had been an accident.
Choices linked to sweet memories are the best ones... even if, sometimes, retrospectively, a real danger was not so far

For sure the 280SL, I have a 190SL and I must confess that 280 is much more easy to drive in modern cities and to travel with, than 190. [nt]

Maybe a 280 SL (that I love too) is easier to drive in modern cities, but if I had to choose I would not hesitate and take the 190 SL. Beauty and love are the criteria for me, not practicity. Would you prefer any quartz watch because practical more than a nice mecanical watch. I assume we would all choose the same one, and it is not quartz...
