Oh boy, hope I don't spoil the thing....

.... my deepest apologies if I did

Not at all you have a sharp eye.

Not many people would catch the watch unless they really know it.

Bill

Is it....

You can observe them both.

. . . all along, Bill.

This Doxa Sharkhunter belongs to an acquaintance who was a USN diver decades ago.  It originally belonged to Jacques Cousteau, and was given to him by Cousteau's son.

... of humble....

Etc, etc...

... but I like them both nonetheless wink

Best regards to all - Fred

Humble . . .

. . . and quirky, both.  The Lip tuning fork compressor is one I've never seen before.

Thanks for keeping in theme, Fred!

... but I'm quite amazed you've never heard about it as these Lip Nautic Ski Electronic are very common ... and, consequently I guess, pretty much undervalued

To be correct, the movement is not tuning fork running, but an "electro mechanical one"; unfortunately, I'm no expert to tell the differences, but see here for further details if you wish   (sorry the article is written in french, but nothing google translate can't sort out I guess  wink ) : ->  watchesz.free.fr  <-

Well, this maybe is not as sweet as other well known high branded super compressor... plus the watch is pretty small according today's standard (36mm only).... but these Lip are definitely great value for the money anyway... IMHO

My advice: catch one, pretty sure you won't regret it wink

Best regards - Fred

Right after making that comment yesterday, a dim recollection . . .

. . . of the prior posting of your Lip came to mind, Fred.

The watches in your collection that spark my memory are your fabulous black Connie, followed by the Super Kontiki.

Our first encounter on PPro
and allow me to quote you back then

"Believe it or note, Ares501, the expert at Glashütte Original....
provided details of your friend's watch before I even saw your post!   His comments are:

The type "Spezichron" is a wrist watch for men with an automatic winding system.  There were two models - with day and date display, and with date only.  The watch has a pallet movement with 22 rubies.  The height of the movement is 6 mm and the width is 25.6 mm.  Compared to the former model "Spezimatic", the frequency was increased to 4 Hz and the rotor was equipped with ball bearings.  Approximately 400000 Spezichrons were produced between 1978 and 1985.  As new, the value was about 200 Euros, but since these were meant as tool watches for everyday use, the value of your friend's watch should be assessed critically by an expert.

I hope this helps your friend understand a bit more about his grandfather's watch . . . cordially, Art

The rest is, as they say, history.....

smile

Most cordially
Damjan
