You are bringing in the heavy guns!! I would have trouble choosing between them... but think it would have to go towards the Omega, I have always been fascinated with this piece.

This was my engagement present watch in 2011. I figured if the girl gets a ring the guy gets a Rolex. Have a great weekend everyone.

I have never owned a Rolex but if I did, this would be probably be towards the top of the list. What made you choose this one rather than the green crystal one?

To be honest it was a tricky decision. I remember talking to a work colleague the day before I went to buy it & saying "first pick is the GV (green crystal), then the white, then the black". I arrived at the AD as soon as they opened & we laid all 3 versions (available at the time) on the table for me to pick from. My personal opinion was that under the lights of the AD the green crystal looked the worst. It washed out the definition of the dial & seemed to clash with the orange hour markers. So it came down to the white & the black (non GV). I would not have regretted getting the white, but the white dial has numbered 5 minute markers over the hours while the black just has orange squares instead. Again, just my preference, but the black dial looked the better to me. So what I thought was my least favourite going in, turned out to be the one that sang to me the most

Andrew : its a 37mm case, and like you I really like the angular lugs that add such retro charm. It's a Zenith A271, and served as a partial inspiration for the recent Hodinkee+Zenith watch collaboration.

You can read more about it here, and as you can see from my post on the other forum, I've been lusting for a A271 for 2 years till I finally laid my hands on a decent example.  Very happy now that the 'chase' is over!

Nothing can have as much charm as a beautiful vintage piece in such a nice condition ! Excellent catch bravo, it is worth being patient !

it is why I still have it. I put it on and fall in love with it again... not that the relationship ended maybe just cooled off! I just wonder sometimes if I were to get shed a few pieces which I did not wear would I miss them and get a bigger piece which I would wear more often... a question often asked!
