I bought this from G99. At the time I was managing editor of a publisher of mathematics textbooks. It seemed fitting!
I don't wear it often but it's fun to watch people trying to work out what's going on.
WristScan 3/17 starts now. Theme: Watches and their Designers
My choice for this week's theme is a relatively new addition.
A Rado R5.5 automatic!
I've always admired Rado's use of ceramics but since most of the watches contained quartz movements, I never added one to the collection until now.
This R5.5 was designed by Jasper Morrison, an industrial designer from London.

I have no clue about who designed those but ...
I just love how they did.
1) Omega De Ville Hour Vision Orbis
The middle case is made of sapphire allowing us to see the internals of the 8500 case.
2) Omega Planet Ocean Chronograph.
The challenge was how to house a 9300 chronograph movement maintaining an amazing water resistance.
The designer was able to produce a watch, that's bold and heavy but is amazing comfortable on the wrist.
3) Longines twin barrel Lindbergh.
The movement, with two power barrels is outstanding in terms of accuracy, that was the main goal of this design.
Memorable movement, very nice case and crown design.
Disclaimer: It now belongs to my wife, that just is passionate about it.

Designed in the 80ies, by an unknown genius
A new toy, the Girard-Perregaux Chronograph 7000. Will have to put up a detailed report on this one, once all the Basel hype is over. So here's a sneak peak for this week's wristscan:
No idea about the designer, but it was rather successful as it stayed in production for >10 years.

That's real nice...Eventhough the dial layout is common and dictated by the movement, some one had to select the size of the counters, the hand styles, numerals, colors..

yes, the bezel is flat and the same level as the crystal. Detailed report coming up over at the GP forum. I will hold back a bit until we have digested the 2016 Novelties. Nope, not going to Basel. CC

I bought it for my wife; she found it incomprehensible
Alas, She's one of the Luddites: "'phone? Why not talk in person?"
She hated it, couldn't deal with multi-press alphabet spelling on texts, etc. so we sent it back.
They seem to be a happy and cooperative company.
