but the dial is not for me. Impressive but not the watch of my dreams.

The layout of the subdials on the face and the off-center placement of the astronomical display at the rear to show the balance really make this one of the best perpetual/astronomical watches I have seen. Much better than the IWC Portuguese Siderale Scafusia. Still like the Ulysee Nardin Astrolabium Galileo Galilei the best of the astronomicals, but hats off to A. Lange, a fine achievement!

Hu? Would be nice if the Lange people would raise their noses above the workdesk horizons once in a while. Since more than twenty years there are wristwatches showing the location of the moon relative to the earth and the sun - most, if not all of them designed by Ludwig Oechslin.

They all indicate the relative movements of Earth and Moon around the Sun, with the exception of the "Planetarium" the moonpuse is separately shown on the moon itself.

Don't take me wrong: I really like Lange, and applaud them for their important achievements in classic watchmaking. However, I fail to see a single real "first" in horological history, a single real innovation. Their perpetuals are classic, their timezone indications are classic, the tourbillons are classic, even the digital watch is not the first on the market. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. What they do, they do perfectly, which is more than most others are able to achieve. But they should stop to put up misleading claims about innovativeness that are simply not true.

Two ultra-precise treasures for the wrist

In their diamond-set white-gold cases, the two new SAXONIA models constitute a fascinating combination of horological precision, superb artisanship and feminine elegance.

The visible facets of all the members of the SAXONIA watch family reflect the rich inner life of these timepieces. The manually wound manufacture calibre L941.2 inside the SAXONIA assures high timekeeping accuracy. When fully wound, it delivers a power reserve of 45 hours. The movement reflects the ambitious quest for aesthetic elegance down to the smallest detail. Surfaces lavishly decorated by hand as well as the Glashütte ribbing that adorns the three-quarter plate made of German silver manifest the pursuit of perfection as aptly as the screwed gold chatons and the hand-engraved balance cock. The sapphire-crystal caseback reveals the movement as a showpiece of mechanical ingenuity, commensurate with the dazzling appearance of the watch.

First of all congratulations to the AL&S team for the successful launch of the 2014 novelties. Iam happy in a way that  Lange once again proved itself as a winner in coming out with technical marvel like the Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar Terraluna. I hope it is an affordable timepiece or it will end up in my grail list…

.. I just had difficulties with the band width of where I am now and had to wake up very early and took almost 2 hours to pose (and finally gave up) Terraluna press release as it was too heavy....

As always, I will await the detailed photos from our excellent moderators and contributors before making conclusions; however I am very happy with the RL PC Lunar, the design of dial and PC implementation is flawless in my opinion and the 14 day power reserve is wonderful.

As always, an excellent and informative presentation of the new pieces from the Saxon house, my friend.

The actual wrist shots have been taken and posted below by Fx who is "on the ground" as always.

My thoughts so far (without actual seeing them in person, mindy you).

1815 38.5mm - again?

1815 Tourbillon - I still don't get it: why put tourbillon on the "traditional" 1815 dial and it still doesn't look a good fit to my eyes....

RL Terraluna - yes, technologically marvelous, like the Grand Complication, but size-wise and praticality stand point, not my cup of tea....  Great job, Lange team, but I can't help wondering who would really "wear" this (I know there are A LOT who would flock to this model, especially those who has means to purchase), but who would actually wear and use and appreciate this model.....

This is my honest thoughts as of now....  Again, I have not seen them yet and can't give final thoughts....

Hi Ken,

I very welcome the trend back to smaller sizes as the current 1815 in 40 mm is far too big looking.

I am sure this smaller model is more the taste and simply what is physically tolerable for smaller wrists and the Asian market in particular.

The 1815 tourbi is a must have for the serious Lange fan and simply logical.

It looks fab on the pictures although in 38,5 or even in 37,7 would have been a knocker, a killer Lange.

Overall a good show from Lange this year and a very sensible use of the 31days technology in a big watch, but still for some wearable I am sure.
