As it happens, I was in my local AD yesterday getting a strap change on a JLC and spent time with the Lange offerings they have there. I had on the Richard Lange in RG and the 40.5mm feels just about perfect on my wrist. The warmth of the RG mixed with the balance of the sweeping seconds makes this a winner in my eyes. Plus the movement is just gorgeous with the indirect drive attachment for the seconds hand.
Also tried on the new WG Lange 1 TZ which was a surprise as it has just landed in stock. The lume on the hands brings an element of sport to this beauty.
No doubt in my mind now that my first Lange will be the RL, the question is whether in RG or PT. I've yet to see the PT in the metal.
Thank you for posting your pictures, I think we share the same appreciation.
Colton
With an interesting movement.
Yes, to be considered, seriously.
Best,
Nicolas.
Guten tag Mark,
You take nice wristshots and the RG looks great on you.
With regards to you and Colton's dilemma on whether to decide on the Pt or the RG, well coming from me it would unbiasly be the Pt without a doubt. The beautiful roman face, that excuisite centre seconds hand in heated blued steel, and of course the "simple" yet with depth movement, all complemented with the lunar lustre of the polished bezel, lugs of the case, and not to mention all that HEFT!
This watch is a heavy weight packed not so much in the literal sense ( although by no means it can be considered a light piece) but the value and emotions that it exudes and connects with provides the blessed owner an experience foudn hardly anywhere else, at any price level. ( Hence i understand your choice totally that if you were to compare this with even more complicated models, you just might still choose the RL [ May i add further, in Pt of course
]
Mine is at present back in Glashutte, and isnt due until around about May. And while these shots of mine as rather old, i hope you can get a glimpse of how MUCH is it that i ABSOLUTELY LOVE this masterpiece from the best watch manufacture in the World.
But whatever you two decide on, whether on the RG or the Pt, you are in for a user experience that is out of this world. It brings you back to the age of days of exploration, science by the precise measurement of Time, the roaring Twenties, and wait for it ( drums roll please) as i LOVE this word, die Deutsches Beobachtungsuhren.
Tschuss and have a great rest of the week!
Stephen

Guten tag Mark!
The RL is stupendous, superlative really in virtually all aspects when you really look at it.
Of course! Holding the Pt version gives you this "oomph" feeling that makes you just want to flip out your card and swipe it, and bring home just about THE best daily watch the market offers.
You're much welcome Mark!

Hi Stephen,
I must admit that it has been your shots of the RL in PT that initially brought the RL to my attention a couple years ago. Both the RG and PT versions have so much soul and elegance to them while retaining the Lange DNA. Aside from your 'King' in the PLM, I would be hard pressed to find a more beautiful 3-hand watch.
Oliver posted a detailed write-up comparing the models in the RL family as well a while back and this gave a lot of insight into the subtle complexities of the Richard Lange family. Clearly there is a large amount of interest in the chronometric line as you said Stephen.
As I mentioned previously, I have only had encounters with the RG in my AD and can only rely on yours and other photos of the PT version. Maybe a weekend trip to NY when the weather warms a bit.
One question to you however, in your pictures the dial sometimes appears almost slate - grey or beige. Is this a trick of the light, or is the dial a different material in the RG vs the PT?
Thank you for your wonderful pictures, your PT collection is a marvel (especially that new twirling Meister)
Best,
Colton
Hi Colton,
It is such a pleasure to hear that my photos do assist others in helping them when they are looking for new models, and to make them aware of the possibilities out there!
The RL family is one to look at, and the more you concentrate on it, the more you get enamoured by it.
Mark already answered your question on the dial colour below.
Please do make a trip to an AD that has the Pt version in stock, i am absolutely positive you will fall head over heels for it!
Wishing you well!
Tschuss
Stephen
