Tried the Little L1 Onyx 30th last week
Finally got to satisfy my curiosity. The deep black gloss of the onyx makes this a standout. Dial of the Emil Lange 1815 Moonphase, which I was wearing at the time, looked like a matte gray in comparison. Very different experiences. And I love the cool vibe of the black/silver colorway in general.
Hard to tell in pictures
Do you think they are worth it? I passed on the opportunity to get one...didn't seem special enough to justify the price. The blue dial and RG version actually appealed to me more.

The closest aesthetic comparison for a glossy black dial is Handwerkskunst Lange 1 Tourbillon from 10 years ago, with the black enamel dial. The onyx dial is clearly a nod to that watch. But of course, enamel has a special quality (in part deriving from the craftsmanship) that onyx lacks. Also, a key feature of the Handwerkskunst dial -- the fact that the "applied" markers are on the same plane as the dial surface (vs. above it) -- is lacking here. But that's unsurprising.

Definitely special, in the same way (for example) the aventurine dial and mother-of-pearl dials are special.

My first Lange was a mother-of-pearl Lange 1, so I have an affinity for these stone (well, natural substance) dials.

No, thanks to the AR coating.
Otherwise it would be horrible. That's the problem with many FP Journe watches -- the reflectivity of the crystals prevents you from ever fully appreciating the dials -- but don't get me started!

A date watch that I do like
I like that the date background matches the dial. If I could afford it, this is a watch that I would have & keep, no question.

I was told by the boutique that majority of those who did were collectors, who upon seeing the watch first hand, immediately confirmed their interest.

But I still prefer the old Darth with it's different dial texture and without the white circle around both sub dials

Was curious to see how the new onyx dial would look compared to some of Lange's other black dials. Sounds like it's definitely darker/deeper/glossier.
Without a doubt! The closest analogue is the enamel dial L1 tourbillon handwerkskunst.
