A real shame, especially since this brand has limitless potential, in my opinion the only three brands that can stir up the same kind of emotion in a watch collector as Patek are Vacheron. Lange, and Parmigiani if developed right. This is especially true with the decline in Patek finishing standards to ramp up production and catering to mass taste.
Don't get me wrong, I believe Patek and Rolex are the kings of high horology and sport watches respectively, and Patek still produces divine finely finished pieces in the ultra high end that rival the best independents, but the range they offer today is wider than in years past.
I try to separate the Lange product with the management decisions. The product has almost always usually been very good. Management decisions and leaks are sometimes less perfect. Of course this separation is very hard to do.
I have all the respect for the designers, finishers, and watchmakers, the end result is just fantastic, it's only Richmonds strategy that irks me. To be honest it's not that big of a deal that I didn't get the Odysseus, I like the watch but it's not a must have at all, my other steel sport watches rank higher for me ( nautilus, aquanaut, royal oak, even vc os) but to be such a loyal customer only to be ditched while other more recent buyers get an item is annoying and speaks volumes about the brands priorities
Agree with your post about Lange's new protocol and also the exquisite pieces they make. I for one will not be purchasing a NEW Lange piece anytime soon due to the direction this brand has chosen to take which is VERY sad IMHO 🫣
