1815, Datograph, Saxonia ... next you'll need a Lange !

It's great that you'll likely buy preowned. That's the only way to go since "value/bank for buck" is important to you. I think any Lange can be worn informally, but you're right that RG/black dial is probably the dressiest combo (or at least dressier than a WG or PT watch).
Since you'll buy preowned, that really opens up your range of possibilities beyond those that are currently offered by Lange. You may prefer one of the older 1815 chrono models, 1815 Up/Downs or the original Datograph to the current offerings. Maybe you've already looked at those earlier models, but if not, then they're worth checking out. I'd spend a bit more time looking at photos of various models online and also reading about them. You may find that a clear favorite begins to emerge. And once you've accepted that you'll likely get more than one Lange, you may find that the decision about which is first becomes much less important. I'd focus on getting one for a really fair price (and presumably preowned prices won't be going up anytime soon).
