Lucky for you, no lange could ever be described as 'basic, each finished to a beautiful state with characteristics far beyond the practices of other brands.
To answer your question specifically, If I were looking at an entry-level Lange, I would opt for the Saxonia with small seconds and date. This reference captures a very major piece of Langes DNA, and that is the outsize date with quick-adjust pusher at 10 o'clock, not to mention uses the sax-o-mat movement with gorgeous micro-rotor.
Under your two choices, the standard Saxonia with small-seconds would be my choice as it offers several excellent options in terms of dial/metal combination and the added spectacle of a small seconds indicator at 6 gives me something that the Saxonia thin always seemed to lack.
