Hello,

I am seeking advice about the Richard Lange PLM. I already have a Datograph Up/Down PT and a Zeitwerk WG, and I want to take my Lange collection to the next level.

What does everyone think about the old Richard Lange PLM (with white enamel dial in RG) versus the new version (with black silver dial in WG)? Both versions are relatively easy to track down. The new price of the black dial version is pretty much the same as the second-hand price of the old enamel dial version.

I am particularly interested in hearing from current or former owners, and from anyone else who has tried these watches. How is the winding feel? Any issues with the reliability of the fusee? It is a pure three-hand watch ... does it get boring? (I think it looks beautiful, but different perspectives are welcome.)

If the price is the same and you trust the seller, you can't beat an enamel dial for beauty. What the WG version has going for it is it's price. I own the WG and I love it. But enamel is special.

Thanks for the advice Padj, and I saw your photos of the black dial version a few days ago! I was actually leaning towards the black dial (because I usually like black dials and white metals), but it is very interesting to hear that you prefer the enamel dial notwithstanding your "conflict of interests"!

the black dial adds a little more sporty/casual/versatile feel, even though it certainly is also an elegant piece.   I think in most situations I would prefer the black dial on my wrist.  

I can see what you mean. I generally prefer black dials, because they look better with my skin. But I already have a few black dials in my collection, and it may be necessary to "branch out". Regards

Ok, I'm biased as I own one but the enamel dial with the blued hands is absolutely stunning. I own this watch for a few years already and it never bores me. Winding is a joy, especially when you turn your watch around. The sound during winding is oh so nice. You will never ever regret this purchase, especially when you go for the real one

The way the light hits the enamel is amazing.

I have sent you a PM on where you can buy a brand new rose gold PLM at a massive discount from the most reputed AD in the UK which equates to the same price as the black dial version. Many dealers did not find it easy to sell these three handed watches at their original RRP as many people did not understand the complexity that goes into each movement. If I am not mistaken, eh fuse chain itself has over 600 parts! All the best!

A year or so ago I heard that there was a heavily discounted RG in the UK.

The only reason why I did not buy the watch is it is because it was too large for my wrist. That watch has not been sold (miraculously) - I just dropped by 4 hours ago

Because it remains a rare dial in the Lange collection and it is consistent with the pocket watch spirit of the watch.
