Breguet Marine Big Date switched back to the bracelet
Before I get into pictures of the bracelet I want to thank Breguet for helping me replace the outer box. I bought this watch overseas and when it was shipped, customs opened the shipping box to see what was inside. Well they never put the watch box back into the shipping box, instead they wrapped up the outer back and sent it along its way. This was the result when I opened the box.
They even wrote my apartment number on it!
This is how it should look, thanks to Damien and Santia at Breguet for you help.
I have to say that the presentation is outstanding.
Here are a bunch of bracelet shots, they should give you a good idea of how the watch is going to look. I still prefer it on the leather strap but I think I'm going to wear this way for a little while as it feels like a brand new watch!

Amazing how a strap/bracelet change can....
give one the feeling of a new watch! One's collection can multiply by the number of straps/bracelets available! For those collectors with large numbers of watches as well as straps/bracelets it can be like wearing a new watch every week (or day) of the year! This one looks great on the strap but also on the bracelet.
The box treatment by customs is horrible! You were fortunate to receive a replacement and Breguet's responsiveness to your request is in keeping with good service.

I prefer to see this beautiful watch with a strap, rather than on a Bracelet...
It looks strange to me to see it owith this bracelet...
But I have to confess that there are very few bracelets I love.
The most important is that combo sings to you, my friend...And this watch is really growing on my mind.

Marine Big Date...
Should never be worn with bracelet.. i love the blue or black rubber-strap, even almost better than the leather-strap..
But honestly, your watch is amazing with black leather... and also, its nice to could change between the strap and bracelet, you are right,,, its like a totaly different watch..

Thanks for the images. As you say, we don’t get to see the Marine on bracelet too often and it’s an interesting change to make and a nice ‘option’ to have.
One thing that struck me from your comparison images on leather and metal was how it changed the apparent size of the watch. While I always knew that a leather strap accentuated or emphasised the watch itself, and that smaller watches seemed to benefit from the added ‘heft’ of a bracelet, your images really brought that home.

You are right.
I recently had a Rolex bracelet that needed some repair and good old Aust Post lost it. Fact was with the bar code system it turned out that it got stolen at the Post Office of Deposit.
Insurance covered $3K but a replacment was around $11.5K for a new bracelet and I put the watch on a leather strap and the size changed enormously.
I have seen a 5817 in yuellow gold with a yellow gold bracelet and it looks like a different watch....something I would have bought some years ago but these days it seems a lot of weight to carry.

I think that, at least the yellow gold model, was made for the croco strap!!!
As for the steel model I vote for rubber...
