Breguet

Since I have time to change my order and since the price tag difference is not very very steep, I would like your opinion, especally from those that have seen the models live...
What should I buy?
5817BA (simpler and easy to read) or 5827BA (Chronograph, bigger 42mm vs 39, smaller date)?
Sorry the later's photo is in white gold but I mean the yellow gold one...

Your technical or aesthetic opinion will help...

 

Both are beautiful..

But My Heart will lead me more towards the simple Marine, not the chrono...

I'm really fascinated by the " simple " Marine...

I've seen and wear for a few minutes the 5817 in Hubner's (and also at the Breguet Boutique) of Vienna, last week and it WAS captivating!!! Your opinion counts much for me...

After I got the 5817 I looked at it many, many times, and I was very pleased indeed. Then one day it got the very early light and I could really see the blue of the numerals and the range reflected from the dial. Quite amazing. Simple 5817 has also shown me how precisely the bells chime in southern Spain. I may just have another honey-moon with my 5146 when it is finally home but I am seriously considering another 5817 if it ever comes in single-color PG with white dial. Best regards.

bought every other watch you own...and especially if you are buying one in yellow gold as that is a magnificent combination.

The 5817 is a captivating watch in so many ways and since I bought mine I am not happy with anything else and now all my other watches just gather dust.

Yesterday I put on my 5707 alarm as I had not worn it for months and this morning I was very happy to switch back to the 5817.

I must agree with Jack. I have just moments ago become a proud owner of 5817 Blue dial watch. The rose gold is very pretty but not available in malaysia.
Having it on my wrist right now feels like being a small kid having a huge lollipop-  Lets see how long this feeling last.....

I am very happy to hear you have your new Breguet 5817......I think many people walk a long road looking for perfection.... and buy a lot of watches.... before comming across such a fine instrument as the 5817.

I know as an owner you possibly have already discovered many things that the brochures or web sites can not possibly tell you, or things that the forums do not mention....like for example  the silk soft feel of the winder...and there are many more good things about the 5817 that you will discover and grow to enjoy.

I truely believe that you will enjoy your 5817 as much as I do mine..... and ask you to put up a photo for the rest of us 'enlightened ones' to enjoy.

I believe that the Breguet 5817 is a great watch encompassing all the traditional heritage of Breguet but presented in a classical yet modern and practical form.

One day we should organize a South East Asia Breguet Dinner for 5817 owners.

Hi Tassos,
Both are great choices but I vote for the 5817BA since it has a classic look.  IMHO, if you're leaning towards a chrono, go for the 5947BA.

since I tried on in Vienna last week I can not get the classic lines combined with its simple elegance and everyday sturdiness out of my mind... But I have not seen the chrono live... I don't like black rhodium and the shade of the rose gold in the marine series, to grey - ish for my taste.. So the comparison has to be made for yellow gold models with brown alligator strap... After the answers untill now I am leaning towards 5817 BA... But by all means, you are really helping me wrighting the pros and cons of each model...

it's quite a big watch , but thinner than the chrono. It is so classy, some posters even regret the Big Date in the Dial.

I look upon a chrono as a sport watch and prefer stainless steel over precious metal. The 5817 is a wonderful, general purpose watch. When I want to wear a chronograph, I put on my TAG Heuer 36 Calibre or IWC Spitfire. But as I said, for me it's just a matter of personal taste.

And swore I'd never sell many of them, the WG Chrono is another one. It's weird but it kinda looks plain until you look at the detail ( in my case at  49 need glasses)of the dial, it's awesome. Comfortable, heavy & the Rubber band is perfect.

The chronograph is too large and ungainly, it is especially inelegant for a Breguet IMHO.
