Description

For sale is a vintage 18K Yellow Gold Patek ref. 3445 featuring the great calibre 27-460PM ("PM" for "piton mobile" or mobile stud carrier, which is relatively rare among 27-460 movements). In general, the cal. 27-460 is regarded by many as one of the best movements Patek has ever made and one of the greatest automatics from the golden age of watchmaking, with free-sprung balance, blue steel overcoil hairspring and gorgeous finishing. This watch dates to about 1969-1971. The dial appears original and pristine, the 35-36mm solid gold case is sharp and crisp, and appears to show no signs of over-polishing with the sides having what appears to be an original brushed finish to contrast the polished front. The original 18K hallmark is crisp on the back of the lug, as apparent in the picture. Overall, watch shows minimal signs of wear for a 40-year-old watch, appears clean and bright with only a tiny little indent at around 11, but really hard to capture in the photos and could most likely be polished out. The movement was just serviced by RGM Watch Company and is running smoothly. This is one of the true greats from a great house and I'm sorry to see it go. These are getting harder to find and I haven't seen one for sale recently with the 27-460PM calibre (as opposed to the 27-460 and 27-460M/date movements).

I ask $7900 (obro) shipped. The lowest price on the net! I accept wire transfers, paypal (no fees), etc. I have sold a number of watches here and on other sites to domestic and international buyers.

Thank you very much

📖 About This Reference

The Patek Philippe reference 3445, introduced in 1961, marked a significant development as the brand's first serially produced self-winding, waterproof wristwatch featuring a date complication. This reference was a cornerstone in Patek Philippe's offerings, providing a robust and practical timepiece for daily wear while maintaining the brand's commitment to horological excellence. Its introduction represented an important step in integrating automatic movements and water resistance into their standard production models. This reference typically features a 35mm case, often crafted from 18k yellow gold, though other precious metals were also used. It is powered by the Patek Philippe caliber 27-460 M, an automatic movement known for its reliability and precision. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal, contributing to its durability and legibility. The water resistance rating for this model is 30 meters, suitable for protection against splashes. The reference 3445 appeals to collectors seeking a historically important Patek Philippe timepiece that combines technical innovation with classic design. Its role as the first serially produced automatic date watch with water resistance makes it a notable piece in the brand's heritage. Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 3445
The iconic Patek Philippe Calatrava ref. 3445, in production from 1961 to early 1980s, was their debut self-winding, waterproof watch with a date. This collection boasts exquisite variants showcasing diverse materials and dial designs.

Calatravas with date functions are not very popular with purist Patek collectors, but perhaps because of their smaller size, I like these (neo)vintage models.
Discover the allure of vintage Calatravas like the hand-wound 3998g and automatic 3445g, 3558g, and 3514g models. Despite varying preferences, each watch offers a distinct style and historical value for collectors seeking classic sophistication.

Bracelet is not from origin
Patek Philippe Calatrava 3445 owner seeks bracelet clarity after service notes it's not original. Contrasts with family history, Rolex, and tax practices. Queries forum on legitimacy and manufacturer accountability.

3445 - thoughts on repair and service
Owner inherited a Patek Philippe Calatrava watch in 18k yellow gold from grandfather, bought in 1970. After a fall, cracked plexiglass case. Patek can repair for 300CHF, but service may take 6-12 months, costing 2000CHF.

Trio of 27-460(M) . The automatic models with dates are not very popular in general among pure collectors, but it is quite nice to have them in WG cases.
Three similar watch models - 3558, 3514, 3445. 3445g popular in Japan, designed with skeleton back. 3558 rare with sturdy straight lug. 3514G with attractive mesh bracelet, unique attachment position. Mesh bracelets often soldered, but preferred with lugs.

3445 as a daily wearer?
Hi all, I am considering to potentially add a 3445 to the collection and would like to get opinions on using it for daily wear on a regular basis. I do have experience of wearing a submariner from late 60s in this way but that watch was obviously built to be a tool so keen to hear the forum’s experi
