Bracelet is not from origin
Hi guys,
So finally decided to take my PP 3445 Calatrava to Geneva for a general service.
Got the quote back after a month and they mention in the document they sent that their jewellers’ note that the bracelet is not from origin.
Now I know my grandfather bought this from an AD in 1970ish and I still have the original papers. It says on the papers 18ct gold etc and my family have said this is how the watch was bought.
When I was at the Salon in Geneva we looked for the hallmark that shows where the band was produced, such jeweller produced it etc but we could not find any. I note that the clasp bears the PP logo. The watch was bought in HK.
I have a good Rolex from that era, also purchased in HK. Now I know from various other forums and sources that due to tax reasons in that era, the watch company would only send the watch and the bracelet was created locally and attached by the AD/their jeweller. This is why the Rolex has the AD stamped into the clasp.
Does anyone think this could have been the same for the PP? If so, shouldn’t this be a legit bracelet? It seems silly to me that a decision of the watch manufacturer means my bracelet isn’t from origin…you’d think this would have been recorded somewhere and made right?
Any knowledge would be appreciated.
Thanks so much!
