Hi I am new to the forum. I have just purchased a Omega 53 but it is not like others I have seen it has no numbers on the back of case and the dial (black) has no arrow the movement 282 is clean and running.the case back 2777-1 would anyone know what I ha...

Hi all experts, finally here are the pictures. I am posting them on Ken´s behalf - I have sized and have enhanced sharpness in order to disclose as much details as possible. All parts are there including inner antimagnetic shield and spacer ring, the dial...  

I suspect it may be a nicely done repaint. The way the numbers are printed is off - in particular a shade too thin compared to the newer TA Bienne replacement dials.

Hi the dial looks to me to be totally identical to a thin-arrow dial - i.e pre MOD modifications/redial in fat arrow. As such should still have radium luminous, which should be easy to pick up with a Geiger counter at about 30cm distance with the dial mou... 

to me it looks like there are no luminous wells; might be in the pics....how thick is the dial ? all the rest looks fine and it´s a very nice example. kind regards. achim

Achim, You might have overlooked in my description - the dial is of the correct "thick type"... regards Erich

to me it looks printed on the dial. did you have the dial in your hands ? just let me know. kind regards. achim..... good dial printers make dials as well; thick or thin. but they can not do the correct shape luminous wells so far......

I am sorry I do no know what wells are if it is the bumps of luminous paint it has them I can photo these at an angle to show. Ken

When some of these dials were stored, often they were stored without the luminous. And the dial had "wells" i.e. squared excavations deep some 0.5mm to make it easier to relume the dial once it was needed. There is no way you can phtotograph the wells bec...  

There is a 53 dial on eBay with wells ( now I know what they are)
