i've recently become interested in getting a white dialled speedmaster as i dont have any properly white dialled watches and either a panda or full white dial speedmaster would suit me well. this has made me look at the 'Speedmaster reduced automatic' wit...

. . . was designed and is made in house, but the chronograph module, interestingly enough, is outsourced from Dubois Dépraz in Switzerland. The cal 39 chrono is the only G O movement that isn't totally made in house. ...  

that may be the reason for the similarity Art. it may be the module that dictates the positioning of the sub dials. if thats the case then every movement with that module on it should have the seconds at 3. it is remarkably unusual though dont you think ?...

yep. the 1140 movement was first offered in 1988 and i ‘think’ its still offered now or a variation of it is. i’m very tempted by it, especially with the all white dial although there is a white dialled model with steel bezel and steel coloured sub dials ...

thanks snak. although its a bi compax it uses the same module so i think i have the answer and that is to keep my eyes open and look harder at more watches before i post a stupid question best G

My Mille Miglia has the seconds at 3. Must be a feature of D-D chrono modules.

have the sub seconds at 3 and is a DD chrono module on top of Eta base. However we cannot conclude that all chronos with DD chrono module have sub seconds at 3 o'clock. eg. The expensive AP ROO offshore chronos use in house AP base movements but with DD c...

Check Andrew review, has the same configuration. Base movement by GP and chrono module by DD. Your theory now have 3 examples. Cheers Nilo

thanks Nilo. i would guess that its the eta DD module which dictates where the constant second sub dial is. if that is the case there should be more of them than i thought as its quite a common way to make a quality chrono without going in house. best G

That\'s why the chrono pushers are staggered to the crown as they are in the reduced. Sandwiched movement components. ...

yep, i’ve considered it. i like it, but its still on a high price wise and one previous owner who i trust said the finish on the dial wasnt the best. if i find one at the right price i’d consider it and keep the puck well away from the public thanks dream...

thanks Nilo, can you pm me what you’ve heard about the reduced. i have to say that going on looks the reduced with white dial is a winner. it looks perfect to me. its also not a bad price in comparison. i must take a closer look at the white broad arrow. ... 

i appreciate Nilo has said they are 'unsubstantiated', but i'd like to know if they are true before i buy a watch for its looks. having read things on the interweb today there are a lot of people defaming the watch saying 'easy to buy and hard to sell', b... 

On a summary, its another Internet fueled myth. Many watches, not only the "reduced" uses the same DD chronograph module, including the NZL-32 Chrono that I'm wearing as I type (or try on my Galaxy Pad) this and I have no concerns about this watch. This D... 

...and he has no problem working on them. He also wasn't aware of any inherent problems. I suppose, like any watch, you get one that may have been abused, the more complicated they are, the harder they might be to troubleshoot and fix. My early manufactur... 

thanks for the news Snak, very good news from my point of view. i was wondering how a module used by so many people could be inherently at fault. i have a lovely white one in mind, but is the panda dialled 3304 with date nicer ??? this addiction is worse ... 

Very good news Nilo, i had sort of decided to skip it, but this news is excellent. my watchmaker is a really good one so i see no issues. all i can say is ‘hubba hubba’ G

i still havent bought a white dialled speedy as i got a bit sidetracked the other day when i say a 1964 Droz super compressor for sale on another forum and that was one that just had to join the clan. you dont see them very often so you dont pass them up ...
