Are not so obtrusive. How the lug to lug 48mm (vs 47mm) is larger on a smaller watch 🤷🏿♂️ is such a mystery
Lugs are 19mm on the ‘57 and 20mm on the Moon watch
But the real culprit is that ghastly bracelet on the ‘57, which was just an afterthought by the design team.
I mean
as in chunky non flat clasp with zero tapering that gives the overall weight heftiness. Side by side the professional is so much lighter too.
Yes, the lug design is the key here.
How about the fact that 41 mm Bulgari Octo Roma has 45.6 mm lug to lug, while Rolex oyster perpetual 39 mm has 47 mm lug to lug. Even surprising is most of the Longines watches has very long lug to lug , for watches with 38-40 mm diameter.
Breguet Classique lugs are also long
as there is no room to tuck the strap a bit under the case front, which makes their 38’s not work for me when nominally larger Lemans and Speedies do
I can confirm that the "normal" Speedmaster
wears a lot smaller than the numbers suggest. I have quite slender wrists at 6.5 inches but the Speedmaster Professional sits better on my wrist than a 114060 Submariner despite being 2mm larger on paper. I guess the asymetrical case and twisted lugs are ...
After owning a Speedy for years…
…I was talking about size with someone and they pointed out it was 42mm. I didn’t believe them ! LOL I can confirm it wears much smaller.
