I was fortunate to have been schooled by seasoned Omega collectors . . .
. . . starting with our first forum moderator Bill Sohne, plus many others: Tony C, Erich, Gator, MSN, Hoi, Ben DG, and Desmond, to name the ones right off the top of my head. Their guidance was invaluable; I've made only one mistake collecting vintage Omegas thanks to their willingness to offer advice.
Should you decide to take the plunge, there's not only myself, Jeff, and Nicolas here to assist; I'm still in touch with many of the experts mentioned. So if you have a question I can't answer, there are others I can call on. No one knows more about Genèves than Tony C. Erich is the unquestioned worldwide Omega chronometer expert.
In other words, you have backup if you need it.

Learning before buying is clever
For me it is useful. I learned an original crown is technically better for the watch. At an auction i saw a Jumbo with a non Omega replaced crown. It looks good, but i can better look further for a Jumbo with an original Omega crown which fit the techniqu...
The nub of the issue with this Ω was my certainty the crown was original based on its appearance. Had I known . . .

The Ω symbol can be inserted by hitting the alt key and then 'z' . . .
