Great Dial!
But I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that this is simply dial deterioration that has patterned in a particular way.
Absolutely beautiful patination, in my opinion, where a dark painted dial centre has, through serendipity, emerged as a one-off thing of beauty.
Bill or others may be able to correct me - and then I would have learned something - but my intuition tells me it's a reaction of the dial paint to sun and moisture. I'd go for it, as it's quite amazing.
Cheers
Desmond
