Engraved black dials, even in steel cases . . .

. . . command a hefty premium, Nicolas.  Black pie-pans, too.  Here's an especially rare example of a '57 ref 2852 . . .

. . . with original lumed hands and markers (via special order when it was purchased).  This one would trade at a higher level than the gold model Horology75 is considering.

The rarest of all would be the white gold (14 and 18 kt) and platinum versions.  These practically never come up.  If you find one, grab it.

I've seen a platinum 2852 in the metal once - at Omegamania.  White gold: never.  There's a single photo in my files . . .

. . . provided many years ago by Erich.  This one would trade at well over $10K today.

Best,

Art

The dealer in possession is asking way above the going market price . Hence I’ve never seen such a clean piece . Remote but confused and off course I have incoming pieces like the FPJ CB, Submariner Hulk , Sky Dweller Steel Blue , Patek 5131P, Patek 5168G...

Well..

Nice time capsule. Cheers D

. . . but in good running condition should go for ~ $5K - $6K these days. Rose gold would be higher, deluxe dial higher still. How close is the seller's asking price to that range? Art

Art he is asking $4.5k [nt]

That's fair . . .

. . . assuming it runs well. It may be a cal 501 rather than a 505, which would partially account for the modest price. Or they may be an issue with the movement . . . only a watchmaker savvy about vintage Omegas would be able to tell. A comparable steel ...

There's an identical 2853 on eBay auction at this moment located in Canada . . .

. . . that's reached $2500+ with two days left to go. It's in slightly rougher, unpolished condition (which most collectors prefer) and an original crown (unlike the crown fitted to your example, which is a correct but not identical later replacement). An...
