Actually the bombe / lyra stlye cases have variations!
Hello Everyone...
This weekend I will get my 105.012 first style with bombe / lyra lugs and my First generation Speedy Pro 145.022 . I am doing this from memory right at this moment but not only the side profile is diferent but also the bombe / lyra twist angle as well... as thickness.
Sorry I cant get to the bank at this hour...

i think that the 'parts bin' theory is very possible, but do we have any evidence that the case backs are original to the cases? its is entirely possible that they became damaged in some way and were replaced with later ones. who knows? the wonderful myst...
