Hi Nilo
Congratulations on the great catch. I love the dial, it's vintage look and the large size of the case.
Best.
BTW, here'a a pic of a dial with a gold star

...that I snagged off the web a few years ago: Not sure what the difference would be (if any) between the Ref. 2272 and 2271. Also not sure if the short list of references on the ad are the only ones which had the red star added to the dials. You are corr...

Hi Nilo, not bad at all - congrats on a nice vintage grab! It looks pretty good and I am confident that the tarnish of the gold plating could be removed carefully - maybe caused by spilled oil during a not so professional maintenance... I am sure that the...

My watchmaker team will take care of the movement tarnish. In respect to the gold star, according to my sources, those started to enter the market in 1956. About the different sizes, I go to ask to this friend that have all models listed (and some unliste...

Points to the "red star" associated with the Brazilian market only. Of course, there are other Omega "star" for the international market but from a latter period (1955/1954) reference OT 2169 but in gold. Cheers, Nilo
Could it be . . .

. . . that one reference was reserved for movements with chronometer rating, Erich?

Hi Art, I am in doubt about this. I have never seen a "red star model" with a chronometer movement (in strict sense, eg. a 30 T2 Rg) inside up to now. As we have discussed several times - and it seems that there is consensus among the Purists - the red st...
Thanks, Erich. The reason it came to mind . . .

. . . was the implicit reference to observatory trials in the Brazilian advert gator posted. As the reference number 2271 was specifically listed in the ad, my thought was that it inferred a watch that came with a chronometer rating. Cordially, Art
2271 / 2272

Mac_Omega, I believe that the difference is that the 2271 measures 34.5 mm in diameter and the 2272 around 38mm. Cheers, Nilo
Vintage Omega can be . . .

I'm chasing one that you own, black dialed, gold markers .... So far, nothing. There is a Constellation "pie pan" that I may grab. Let's see if the seller comply with my haggling. Cheers, Nilo

Thank you (I got my watch doing a research and it was based on your post). Please check another post that I go to make in sequence to clarity the "star", or to try. Cheers, Nilo
