Are the gold Panerai hands gold coated brass or steel or are they solid gold? I know the dials are brass, but there is a galvanic coating grown on the dial to give it a black or brown color. Is this just paint or is it another material? thanks, troy
My feeling is it's gold plated instead of solid gold. I don't know about the dials since no info is ever given out on how their suppliers make the dials. - AT
For...courtesy's sake, though, nothing in the data I've..perused..makes me think they are..not...made of gold (not gold plated). Alas, I haven't found a substantive proof. A quick mail to a Panerai boutique, should solve the problem :-) Ciao...
According to the Watchtime article on the PAM 372, this model has gold plated hands. I assume my PAM 351 has the same. It didn't say what the base material was however. thanks, troy
The dials are a base layer of brass. The top dial is oxidized copper. There is a great video on "how it is made" showing in depth the steps of making a Panerai. It is even better than the video that Panerai has on its website. Happy Easter, troy
