Questions about PAM 292
Hi All,
I am highly interested in the PAM 292 and have some general questions about the production and the watch itself. I must say, I completely love the 292J. Absolutely loving the PIG dial, I just wish I bought one in 2008 (if im not wrong) when if it was produced. Regardless, I know I can buy it in the after market but the premium on it seems quite ridiculous, sometimes more than 100% of K or L. Its giving me a lot of thought though, cause I cant stop thinking about it, haha. I dont want to go all out for the 292J because I want to have funds available if by gods grace I get the chance to get a 360 or 339. I would jump on those 2 in a heartbeat.
Anyways, back to the questions. Thought I would put it in bullet point form so it seems structured:
1. I notice that the 292 has several 'serials', such as J, K, L, and ive even seen an M now. It is my understanding that every production year they have such serial numbers. Does this mean that I may have the off chance of purchasing a NEW 292? I know it will not be PIG dial, but I would rather buy something new rather than used.
2. Ive read the reports where ceramic is supposed to be harder and more scratch resistant than steel or aluminium, albeit more brittle (like VA said earlier, if you drop it, it may crack). Any current owners can provide any feedback regarding this? Are you experiencing any scratches or hairline scratches like steel watches do from regular wear and tear?
I am fairly new to Panerai but I must say I have gotten the bug. I got my first PAM in May, a gorgeous 233 and now just want to keep adding more special and unique PAMs to my collection!
Thanks for the input,
Rahul
