First Panerai
Buon giorno Paneristi,
this is my first thread ever (i´m old school), so please excuse some things! I´m infected by the italian virus!
Looking for my first (no, to be honest my second) Pam and it´s kind of hard for me. Should have SD, 1950 44mm case, small second, GMT and date could be o.k.! I Plus: I love the 9 or/and the 3 on the dial ("classic" Panerai). Let´s say I´m looking for a Panerai in the "classical style". Price around 7.500 €, nearly 10.000 USD.
First I fell in love with the 233 (dot-version), but a friend of mine told me not to buy this one (to much "action" on the dial). I really, really love the doomed crystal, which he doesn´t. What do you guys out there think about the 233?
Are there other models with doomed crystal in 44mm 1950´íes? Alternative to this a 47mm model could be possible although, same question as above? Does a 47 mm model look to big on a 6,5-7,5´´wrist?
Other question: What do you think of the new 510? I can get one of the first watches in August 2013 for a good price. Had the 111 for one week (first Panerai), the my brother bought it off my wrist. The Luminor case was o.k., but I want to wear my new watch in the office as well during leisure time, so I thing a 1950 case is "smoother". Do you think, the 510 will be a good "investment"?

You're probably better off getting a 1950 Luminor case
so I wouldn't get the PAM510 since you say the PAM111 was just "ok". The PAM510 won't be a piece that will skyrocket up in value, but it should hold its own relatively well IMO. Besides the PAM233, have you considered the PAM312? Panerai PAM312 Or maybe t...

Yes correct, the PAM312 doesn't have the domed crystal like that on the PAM233

Enjoy your 422. I like the 422 over the 372. if I were to a get a second panerai, the 422 or 190. I really like the 449 but felt it was a little too big on the wrist. here is a picture with my 5001.

the 422 is a 47mm - 1950cased..chunky...luminor and you would buy that..over..the 449, which is a 47mm "slim" Radiomir (which you find..big)? You've really got me puzzled there, where's the logic? Cheers
Yeah l agree my logic may not be so sound...
I guess when I tried on the 422, perhaps with the proportions, the lugs, etc... It didn't seem "too" big on the wrist. When i tried on the 449 for what ever reason it seemed bigger on the wrist. Size is often a relative impression and or mindset and since...
