Dear All,
first of all let me introduce myself, my name is ryan and i am of indonesian origin.
this is my first post as I am new to this forum, in fact i am new to all things horology :,)
just 6 months ago, i had my luck to be able to purchase the beautiful pam 292 from an AD in australia
but one thing has been bothering me,
it creaks when i hand-wound the winding crown (normal winding creaks like every other watch -this is NOT the problem)
but it also creaks when i wound-in the winding crown (to get it to locked position after i finished hand-winding it -now this IS the problem)
meaning, I had the same sound when i am winding the watch, and when i am locking the winding crown, (the sound made when i am
locking the winding crown tends to be less loud)
i started wearing the watch 2 weeks after my purchase and the creaking winding noise was there since the start,
i thought it was because it was new and the noise will be gone by wearing it, it did not,
it grew louder but it is now settled at a 'slightly-below-normal-winding-noise' level.
i have brought up the issue to a panerai-collector-friend, an AD in indonesia, 2 ADs in singapore, and the AD i bought the watch from,
all whom say the noise when winding-in the winding crown shouldn't be around and all advised me to send it for inspection.
I decided to send it for inspection through the AD i bought the watch from and after 3 days of inspection, it turned out to be OKAY,
nothing is wrong, the watch is in normal working condition, AND that several panerai models have similar sound which they say is normal.
now this is where i am not very sure and i think it may be best to be brought up to the experts' attention here.
for your information, i wear the watch in the weekends, probably 8-10 days a month and i wind it when i am wearing it.
i never fully wound the watch, in this case not more than 20 3/4 turn.
i have not come across anyone with similar problem but it may be that I have not looked hard enough.
anyone with advices or insights please? have a good day and many thanks in advance.
regards,
ryan
