I still love the look of the 504, but I want to use my watches and we have three sons so hopefully they'll want to wear them some day. They will have to accept some patina, but a cracking case will never look good compared to a slightly scratched and potentially a bit faded case/dial. One tells a story, the other one just looks terrible.
I do love the dial and the historic aspect of the 232, so I am sure that I'll love it once I find the right example. I have already started to look for nice suede straps that will go well with it. I think that a light brown scamosciato strap might go very well with the brown dial and the golden arms.
Will keep you posted on how deep the rabbithole goes
