Montblanc

One attraction I have for Montblanc timepieces is the magnificent mountain from which they draw their name and, I hope, their inspiration. Beautiful and majestic yes, but also solid, rugged, and even a bit dangerous... We're heading for Bhutan, the real S...  

42mm case, UTC indication. The only problem with the entire Timewalker series is the 3 bar water resistance, but I understand that has to do with the unique lug construction. There is also a discontinued Montblanc Sport GMT with a 41.5 mm case and 20 bar ... 

I've seen several of the old Sport GMT watches online at great prices and usually in very nice condition. Bracelet adds heft that isn't really needed, but a nice watch to be sure, and rubber straps are easily found. It has a pleasing combination of classi... 

The entire Sport series has a great look to it. I keep wishing that Montblanc made it a priority to produce at least 10 bar water resistance to the Timewalker series though.

Yes, that would be nice. In fact, decent WR (I'll certainly accept your baseline of 10 bar or 100m) and anti-magnetism (for all the electronic devices we play with nowadays) should be considered the two essentials of all modern watches!

But I am extremely envious. I would love to do that trek in one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. I did traverse the whole country in a 4x4 a couple of years back, but my favourite times were just spending whole afternoons in the Dzongs. Here...

Definitely Bhutan is a step back in time. Tibet as you know has changed a lot over the years, especially since the train now connects it with the mainland (about a 30 hour trip from Shanghai where I live). One thing I would prepare for your trip is lots o...  

as we were informed by our trip organizer that giving treats, including candy and pens, to children was forbidden in Bhutan. This apparently to discourage the begging culture that has afflicted some rural Tibetan towns.

Interesting idea looking for a Montblanc watch for this adventure! :) I would have thought you would bring your VC Overseas for this. The Timewalkers won't do with the 30m water resistance. You need one of the Sports model. Let me check out at a boutique ... 

I took the VC Overseas to 7000m in South America and it survived without problem, so time to challenge a new watch... ...  

Hi Dean I dropped by the Montblanc boutique in Singapore today. Indeed the Sports chronograph is your best bet with a 200m water resistance. The Timerwalkers are all 30m only. The sports chronographs are 44mm but as they are very thick, they somehow feel ...
