great suggestions
I've seen several of the old Sport GMT watches online at great prices and usually in very nice condition. Bracelet adds heft that isn't really needed, but a nice watch to be sure, and rubber straps are easily found. It has a pleasing combination of classic, sculptural design with sporty touches and seems tough enough for the job. The current Sport Chronograph has 200m WR, good lume, date, and a rotating bezel that could be used to track a 2nd timezone. At 44mm, it might be a bit big on my smallish wrist vs the GMT, but also a strong contender. Now wasn't the older Sport Flyback chrono with large date around 42mm? It also had 200m WR...
You've put your finger on a concern with the Timewalker's, besides the lume, and that is marginal WR :-( As you know, even that figure is only for static pressure and simply moving your arm through rushing water could exceed those limits. Now add severe changes in air pressure and humidity to be expected while travelling the high Himalayan plateau...well, it could be risky. Although a very sporty looking line, the WR consigns it to urban or dress watch use for me.

two essentials

Yes, that would be nice. In fact, decent WR (I'll certainly accept your baseline of 10 bar or 100m) and anti-magnetism (for all the electronic devices we play with nowadays) should be considered the two essentials of all modern watches!
Not sure on the watch

But I am extremely envious. I would love to do that trek in one of the most beautiful countries on the planet. I did traverse the whole country in a 4x4 a couple of years back, but my favourite times were just spending whole afternoons in the Dzongs. Here...

Your b&w picture sets a great mood, like stepping back in time. I'm hoping that Bhutan still represents the unspoiled Himalaya, like Tibet must have been 100 years ago. In exchange for your well-wishes, I hope you enjoy a few pics from my last trip to...
Nice !

Definitely Bhutan is a step back in time. Tibet as you know has changed a lot over the years, especially since the train now connects it with the mainland (about a 30 hour trip from Shanghai where I live). One thing I would prepare for your trip is lots o...
