That\'s a great story! The CEO of Mont Blanc tracking one down for you - the piece will always have special significance in your collection. Your post also reminds me of how special it is to buy the watch from the AD (versus your trusted grey market deale...

The experience was indeed very enjoyable I agree - sometimes buying from a boutique/AD can be a real experience and well worth it in my mind. I was also in the camp of brushing aside MontBlanc as a serious brand; however handling the pieces in person has ...

I definitely do know your love for this piece, and fully justified too :P The huge \'beating\' balance wheel is a joy to look at, but I agree that the clasp\' could do with some improvement. Very much looking forward to your final 2016 incoming!

Although you thinks it's great now, your love for the 1858 will grow over time. It is a superb piece, comfortable on the wrist, exceptionally legible, and a feast for the eyes. Enjoy yours as I have enjoyed mine, no. 90. M4
